We had a pretty good experience here... although it didn't start out that way. Arrived a couple hours before closing & waited in the lobby area to be seated (or even greeted). Not sure how long we waited, but it was long enough that we considered just leaving altogether since we thought it might be indicative of their service in general. We could see 3 servers gathered around a small station near the bar & someone walked by the lobby, but didn't stop; none of the 3 servers seemed to notice us either. Luckily, the telephone at the hostess desk began to ring so we figured someone would come to answer it. Someone did. She told us there was only bar seating at that time so we could seat ourselves. **Would have been nice to have a sign stating that rather than making customers wait unnecessarily** We chose seats at the bar, and the bartender provided menus. Drink orders were taken & arrived quickly. Being a basil-lover, I ordered their Basil Gimlet which tasted really good the first round!! Second round, he completely forgot the basil-- and I mean that literally. When I asked if the drink I received was a BASIL Gimlet, the bartender seemed annoyed & almost like he was doing me a favor by adding some basil. From what I overheard, the bar supply of basil had run out so someone had to go to the kitchen for more. I'm guessing the bartender was hoping I didn't notice so he didn't have to go get some. **Would have been better to just inform the customer that you "ran out of basil" & maybe I would have ordered something else** OR don't be lazy, haha, just go get some. We ordered the Beer Battered True Cod Tacos, Prime Rib Sliders, and the Filet Mignon cooked medium with green beans & mashed potatoes. The food was really good!! Hubby wasn't a fan of the tacos, but I didn't think they were bad. The Prime Rib sliders were awesome! And the Filet was amazing as were the green beans, yummm! (The filet was rare when it arrived, but the kitchen re-fired it to my order specifications. The mgr came by to check on us & to apologize as well as offer something to compensate for the error. Definitely a sign of good service!) Overall, we look forward to dining here again & would recommend other try them.

I have never had a bad experience at Stanford's! I've come here for birthday celebrations, work promotions, date nights, and happy hours and I have always had a wonderful experience! My favorite time to come here is during their all day Sunday happy hour! It's hand down the best Sunday happy hour in Walnut Creek! Perfect for Sunday game days! I have to say that the interior is absolutely stunning! From the bar, to the dining area, and even to the flippin' restrooms; all are just gorgeous and very well kept! It's very spacious and the dining room has plenty of seating available. The bar is a large open horseshoe style with tons of bar, booth, and table seating all around. I've been here when it's slow and when it's a packed house, but the wait has never been excruciatingly painful. Service is top notch here! The wait staff is wonderful! So many great personalities work here! I've always had a pleasant experience with the staff, including the amazing bartenders! I've always been greeted by the hosts and hostesses when I've entered and when Ieave. Their parking lot is still under construction, so unfortunately, you are limited to street parking. There is a parking garage nearby, but it tends to get filled as it is located near all of the shops downtown. The metered parking and private lot parking can get extremely pricey, but please make sure to pay! Walnut Creek parking police don't play and I've had the unpleasant experience of receiving a parking ticket. The food and drink here are just phenomenal! They have some bomb ass specialty cocktails, and their happy hour cocktails are pure fire! I think I'm in love with their Mojitos! They make them so good here.?You can cop a few of their specialty cocktails for less than $5 during happy hour! Score! Food wise... I practically never say this, but almost everything off of their menu is damn good! Love their burgers, salads, tacos, and my all time favorite are those RIBS baby! I've been getting them here for years, and they have always tasted juicy and delicious! I personally haven't had their steak because I don't really eat steak. However, other people that I've come here with who have ordered their steak have raved about it. This place has appetizers for DAYS! They offer some of the most versatile apps around! Their crab and artichoke dip, fish tacos, and sushi rolls are a MUST try here! I also enjoy their soup of the days too. You can get a plethora of their apps in one sitting for dirt cheap during their happy hour! Happy hour here is from 3-6 and 9-close daily, with Sunday actually having happy hour all day! You really can't beat that! I'm obsessed with Stanford's and I'm sure that once you give them a try, you will get addicted to them too! Happy eating!

Had dinner with a few friends. It's a typical old school steakhouse with its table settings. Not rustic or modern but typical. There was five people in our group they put two tables together and sat us at the side of the building next to the windows overseeing the patio area. It was raining so at least we could gauge the weather. I ordered the ribeye and so did two of my friends. It arrived quickly with the sides of mashed potatoes, asparagus and the steak was topped with mushrooms. I ordered it medium but it was a little more rare than I'm used to and also it was a third gristle. The asparagus were crisp and the mashed potatoes were creamy. When I asked my friends how their steaks were they both said it was cooked the way they wanted it and had no complaints. I jokingly informed the waitress and she was kind enough to give me a free dessert for the trouble. But besides the waitress being sympathetic to my complaint our service was outstanding. Every time the staff walked by they asked us if we need anything, from the busboy to the manager. So since two out of three steaks were good and the staff was very helpful I am giving this place 4 stars.

Walnut Creek is not a usual hang out spot for me, but a little late night mischief was way overdue. Standford's is a semi-classy eatery in the heart of downtown with a double punch of "happy hour" to keep the crowds coming. My friend and I were debating what delicious delectables we were going to choose from considering the menu had plenty of choices. All around agreement on thier Mac & cheese..it's genuis..you cant go there and not get that. We settled also on ribs and a ring, Carne waffle fries, and artichoke spinach dip. Washing it all down with a Kentucky sour...whisky being my fav spirit of choice... Will be back soon!

I have been here a few times and Stanford's never disappoints. It is an American restaurant with your typical sandwiches, burgers and salads. They also have formal entrée such as steak, fish and even some sushi rolls and tacos. The selection are quite wide although not many things on the menu are exactly healthy. Nevertheless, their food taste pretty good and portion is larger than you can consume. The kids' menu are also well-rounded with grilled cheese sandwich, pizza to mac and cheese. I love coming here after shopping at the plaza!
